Chairman

Bill Slaughter is a retired business owner of a family owned and operated business in Lowndes County, serving as the CEO of Waller Heating & Air Conditioning.

Chairman Slaughter has been involved with many civic groups, trade associations and community boards such as the Homebuilders Association of South Georgia, Conditioned Air Association of Georgia, Construction Industry Licensing Board of Georgia, Lowndes-Valdosta Construction Board of Appeals, Greater Lowndes Planning Commission, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Foundation Board and Leadership Lowndes Class of 2007. The Boards that he is currently a member of are: the DBHDD State Board (appointed by Governor Kemp), Chairman Community Review Panel, Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO),  Wiregrass Technical College Foundation, Home Builders Association of South Georgia (Lifetime Director). Each one of these opportunities has contributed to preparing Bill to serve all of the citizens of Lowndes County as Chairman of the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners.

Chairman Slaughter’s business background will help him ensure Lowndes County maintains fiscal responsibilities while maintaining an awareness that our community needs to be prepared for growth of industry, small business, quality of life, and emergency preparedness, which simply means using taxpayer funds the best and wisest way possible.

Chairman Slaughter also has a desire to enhance the partnerships between Lowndes County and its community partners, we are all on the same team and our community can only benefit from everyone working together.

Bill is married to Jan Godwin Slaughter, they have four sons Chad Slaughter (Kerri), Josh Slaughter (Emily), Jeremy Godwin (Holly), Chad Godwin, and six wonderful grandchildren.
