On average, Lowndes County Animal Welfare receives 100 calls per day and 21 of those calls are calls for service that require an Animal Welfare Officer to respond. With four full time officers to respond, the work load is tremendous. This being the case, the Animal Shelter depends on volunteers willing to give of their time to help shelter operations run smoothly.
For safety and liability reasons, volunteers must be 18 years of age. In addition, volunteers must be in good standing with animal rescues, the local veterinary community and be free of any past court records related to animal care.
