The Office of Tax Commissioner is one of four Constitutional Officers in County Government.  Mary Nell Robertson, Lowndes County Tax Commissioner, is elected by the voters of Lowndes County to serve terms of four years.  The Office of the Tax Commissioner provides motor vehicle titling, registration and tags; mobile home registration and collects real and personal property taxes.  The Office of the Tax Commissioner provides valuable assistance to the Citizens of Lowndes County with all aspects of their taxes, including homestead exemption, disabled veterans exemption and timber tax.

BOARD OF ASSESSORS

Earl Wetherington, Doyle Kelly, and W.G. Walker are elected by the voters of Lowndes County to serve four year terms as the Lowndes County Board of Assessors.  The Assessors Office prepares the personal and real property tax digest for Lowndes County.  Lowndes County is the only county in Georgia with elected members of the Board of Assessors.

KEEP LOWNDES/VALDOSTA BEAUTIFUL

Keep Lowndes/Valdosta Beautiful is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for the citizens of Valdosta and Lowndes County. We are part of a national grassroots network of over 450 community-based organizations that are affiliates of Keep America Beautiful, Inc., a national non-profit public education organization. Our programs involve citizens, business people, civic leaders, and local governments in activities which educate the public about environmental issues, litter prevention, community beautification, and solid waste management improvement. All of this inspires individuals and gives a personal responsibility for our environment.
