- Safety
For the safety and protection of all, the Lowndes County Courthouse is a secured facility. The sole public entrance is on the Central Avenue side of the Courthouse. All persons entering the Courthouse and all packages, purses, briefcases brought into the Courthouse are subject to being searched.
JURISDICTION

The Probate Court of this county handles all traditional probate matters only. This Court does not handle Traffic, Elections, Vital Records or Game and Fish Law Violation cases. Elections are governed by the Lowndes County Board of Elections. Traffic Cases and Game and Fish Law Violations are governed by the Lowndes County State Court. Vital Records are handled through the Lowndes County Health Department.

- Decedent’s Estates – Probate of Wills, Administration of Estates, Etc.
- Guardianships of Minors and Incapacitated Adults
- Issuance of Marriage Licenses
- Issuance of Firearms Licenses
- Involuntary Intervention – Mental Health and Substance Abuse
- Review of Accountings, Inventories for Guardianships and Estates
- Issuance of Veterans’ Business Licenses
- Issuance of Fireworks Permits
- Occasional Limited Amendments on Birth Records
