Upcoming Projects

On November 5, 2014, the voters of Lowndes County approved a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum that will provide for $800,000.00 in much needed shelter renovations.

The scope of the project includes:

  • A TOTAL RENOVATION TO THE INTERIOR OF THE EXISTING ANIMAL SHELTER ON GIL HARBIN
  • RENOVATION WILL INCLUDE REPAIRS TO ALL WALL, FLOORS, WINDOWS, MILLWORK, ETC...
  • NEW SINKS
  • CLEANING OF ALL WALLS AND PAINTING
  • RECONFIGURATION OF EXISTING HOLDING PENS TO INCREASE HOLDING SPACE USING SPACE SAVER KENNELS
  • THE ADDITION OF VENTILATION TO THE HOLDING ROOMS
  • AN EXPANSION TO ADD TWO NEW TEN PEN DOG KENNELS
  • NEW HVAC
  • NEW FEED AND CAT LITTER STORAGE ROOM
  • A SECURITY SALLYPORT

While the scope of the project will provide for these improvements, there are others that would increase the benefits to both shelter pets and the staff responsible for them. If you would like to know more and/or contribute to this project, please contact Lowndes County Project Manager, Chad McLeod, 229-671-2424, email Chad McLeod or County Clerk, Paige Dukes, 229-671-2400, email Paige Dukes.
