Battalion Chief Nathan Huffmaster began his firefighting career in 1999 and now serves as an Operations Battalion Chief for Lowndes County Fire Rescue. BC Huffmaster started as volunteer firefighter for Morven-North Brooks VFD in 1999 and in 2001, started as a career firefighter for the City of Quitman. In 2003, he was hired by the Valdosta Fire Department where he made the ranks of Firefighter, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. In 2016, Tift County Fire Rescue was formed, where he was hired on as one of the first Battalion Chiefs of that organization. During the Lowndes County Fire Rescue department expansion of 2021, BC Huffmaster joined LCFR as one of its first Operations Battalion Chiefs.
BC Huffmaster holds a bachelor’s degree in Fire Department Administration. He is certified as Fire Officer IV, Fire Instructor II, Live Fire Instructor, EMT, and is a certified Fire Investigator II. BC Huffmaster is also a member of Georgia Search and Rescue, Task Force 2, based out of Valdosta.
BC Huffmaster lives in Lowndes County with his wife Molly, along with two children, Katie and Logan. The house is ruled by three corgis- Finn, Peanut, and Dixie.
