About the Board
The Courthouse Preservation Committee was confirmed March 23, 2010, by the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners. The committee meets as needed to explore future uses for Lowndes County's Historical Courthouse. Recently, the committee held a series of public hearings during which citizens were encouraged to present their ideas related to future uses. Lead by Senior Superior Court Judge, H. Arthur McLane, members are expected to make a recommendation to Commissioners, later this year. Aster, the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners will ultimately vote on a future use. The voters of Lowndes County have allocated $2 million in SPLOST VII funding for this project
