Operations Division

Overview

The Operations Division is the heart of Lowndes County Fire Rescue (LCFR), providing emergency services that protect life, property and the environment across the county. This division operates 24/7, responding to a wide variety of emergencies with professionalism, skill and compassion.

Led by the Deputy Chief of Operations and supported by three Battalion Chiefs, the Operations Division is responsible for the daily command and coordination of fire, rescue and emergency medical services. Each Battalion Chief oversees personnel, equipment and incident response for their assigned shift.

The men and women of the Operations Division are highly trained professionals who serve on the front lines of emergency response. They operate from multiple fire stations strategically located throughout Lowndes County, responding to calls for service that include:

    Structure Fires

    Brush and Wildland Fires

    Medical Emergencies (ALS and BLS)

    Motor Vehicle Collisions

    Hazardous Materials Incidents

    Rescue Operations (Vehicle Extrications, Water Rescue, Confined Space)

    Fire Alarms and Sprinkler Activations

    Public Assists and Service Calls

    Severe Weather and Disaster Response

    Search and Rescue Operations

These dedicated firefighters, driver operators and officers are the backbone of LCFR’s mission. Their courage, discipline, and commitment to excellence ensure that Lowndes County residents receive fast, effective and compassionate emergency services every day. Lowndes County Fire Rescue operates on a rotating 24-72/48-72 shift schedule. Firefighters work a 24-hour shift followed by 72 hours off, then a 48-hour shift followed by 72 hours off before the cycle repeats. Each shift begins at 7:00 a.m. daily.
